SERVICES FOR

At North Shore Special Education Consulting, we know that every family has different needs when it comes to advocating for their child.
We offer a variety of options for families to work with a consultant to secure services for their child that result in success. This may include reviewing an IEP and providing feedback, having us attend an IEP or 504 meeting to advocate for your child directly, or working with you on an ongoing basis from the time of eligibility, through the development of the IEP and/or 504 plan and beyond.
Navigating the process of appropriate services for your child can be overwhelming. We want to make that easier for you and to help you feel like a valued member of your student’s team. We are flexible and will adjust to your needs.
Our staff will start each experience with a 50-minute free consultation, where we complete an intake questionnaire and assess your consultative needs. We will then work with you to determine the right services for your family.
Please see below for the tailored services we offer families.
SNAPSHOT EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
Sometimes families want a second opinion regarding their child’s services. We will complete a questionnaire about your child and review your child’s school records. Our team will then meet with you to discuss recommendations which could include amendments to the IEP and/or 504 plan, a communication plan with the school team, and/or a referral for other professional services. Our consulting is designed to meet your needs and help you to ensure your child’s school success.
ADVOCACY SERVICES
Some families will want to go beyond consulting services, and we can do just that. Our advocacy services will include all the steps in our Snapshot package, in addition to attending an IEP or 504 meeting. We will work with you to prepare for the meeting and may consult with any private providers, observe your child in the classroom (with your permission), and/or interview your child.
DISCIPLINE CONSULTATION SERVICES
Regulations regarding the discipline of students in Illinois have shifted in the past few years. A progressive discipline model that includes individualized student supports is best practice. Specific rules and regulations governing the discipline of students with disabilities must be followed, which NSSEC is here to help you navigate. This includes a review of educational records, a review of the incident or behavioral concern, attendance at a discipline review and/or hearing, and recommendations to be provided for supportive school services.
٭ Since there are specific timelines schools must adhere to, we recommend that you contact us immediately if you are considering our assistance with the discipline of your child at school.
These individual services are paid for on an hourly basis. We offer a variety of ways to pay for services to customize the experience for each family.
